Next month marks ten years since I left Twitter. I'm still proud of things I worked on, but I make an effort to avoid bringing it up unless absolutely relevant.

Talk too much about your past and you say, "I haven't done anything cool since then." People who make it their whole identity were usually just in the right place at the right time.

Letting go of the past may cost you social media clout, but it does wonders for your professional (and personal) growth.

@sandofsky The products that I worked on 10 or 20 years ago don't matter. Most are long gone. It's the relationships with the folks I worked with on those products that are important.
@sandofsky on the upside, it's fun to wear the t-shirts now, since that one guy ruined it and called it X
@sandofsky The ADA that sits on my desk is as much a reminder of good things past as it is to keep moving forward with new things.
@sandofsky It’s like when people keep retelling stories from college.
@sandofsky Literally written on the wall outside Town Hall at Infinite Loop 4: “If you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what's next.”
