That's

159x the deaths of the War on Terror
4375x the deaths of the Gulf War
20x the deaths of the Vietnam War
2x the deaths of the Civil War
3x the deaths of World War II

That's not "peacetime".

@django @rbreich This first became clear in the summer of 2016 when Trump named Putin's campaign strategist Paul Manafort as his campaign manager and the GOP just fell in line behind Trump anyway.

@GottaLaff @annietime I think the answer might be... They can't... Which is why no one is asking her to resign anymore. But I don't personally know the committee rules. This is just what Ive been seeing argued by others.

@GottaLaff @annietime It's a sad state of affairs made worse by a lack of self awareness.

At this point, resigning won't do anything. That needed to happen in 2021/2.

We witnessed what will happen while she was temporarily gone. We wont have her vote and the GOP will block any effort to replace her on committees. I don't see how a permanent absence right now will resolve that conundrum.

Public Notice

Lots of reports of crypto spam attacks coming in from multiple instances today.

Seems like the bad guys are getting kinda worried about Mastodon.

Instance admins are taking this very seriously and working hard to fend off the attacks.

What can you do? If you see a crypto scam post, don't engage with it. It's just a bot anyway. If you block and report the post it will help administrators isolate the attacker account.

We got this!
