@DemocracyMattersALot I really can't either, but what I don't understand is how they can stomach Ted Cruz. He's WAY worse than Lake, and that's a heavy lift.
@Teri_Kanefield Fair enough, but two questions pop to mind: 1. Let's say Trump actually does not only win but gets at least the Senate if not both houses. Based on Robert's ruling what damage can he do? 2. Biden has been reluctant to expand SCOTUS. Do you see that changing if he (or another dem) wins a second term?
@Teri_Kanefield I'm honestly less paniced about Cannon's ruling and wanted to get your take. But after reading Roberts ruling on Immunity and about how not only does almost everything a POTUS does enjoy at least presumptive immunity, anything with that presumptive immunity not being able to be used in court seems to create a huge power problem. If Trump doesn't take advantage of it someone will, from either side.
@Teri_Kanefield No, I'm just too lazy to type it out longhand. I get that there is no script, it was just a figure of speech. But the dismissal has been pretty roundly ridiculed as having no basis in actual law by several legal experts, including Holder, and I just wanted to get your take. More pressing is the immunity deal, which has truly frightened me after reading excerpts of Robert's ruling.
@Teri_Kanefield TERI! I NEED YOU TO TALK ME OFF OF THE LEDGE! Philosophically, of course. Tell me that this isn't checkmate, especially given Robert's concurring opinion outlining that everything Trump did was official.
