She's gone dark since July 2, and that's through the immunity ruling and now Cannon going off-script.
@jpwkeeper See my most recent blog post. Also see the pinned series on my blog.
The problem is the insanity level in the way news is reported. I can't keep injecting sanity.
Your phrasing "Cannon is going off-script" tells me that you are getting your news from a source that isn't providing news. (There is no script)
You are getting scorecard analysis and opinion instead of news.
The problem is not Cannon. The problem is that we are in a media disruption and you are being fed rage material.
All I can do is keep repeating: There are bad judges. It happens. It usually happens the other way: bad judges go with the prosecution instead of the defense.
There will always be bad judges because no system will ever be perfect.
One problem was people looking to the criminal justice system to solve a political problem. With that set up, there are major meltdowns over things that happen.
See how I am repeating what I've been saying for years?
For a few years it was major meltdowns over "THERE ARE NO INDICTMENTS GARLAND IS TOO COWARDLY." (It was obvious there would be indictments but not on the artificial timetable people were demanding.)
I explained that indictments are the beginning of a long, harrowing process. We are in that process.
The prosecution will appeal and will probably win, but it may take years.
The panic driven cycle is making people hate rule of law and democracy, which move slowly.
Your wise words that we support democracy with more democracy should be the mantra we stick to.
Yes, I saw some errant reporting, and for the most part dismiss the noise.
Late last week, I finished an essay about where we are and what we need to do from my perspective as a concerned American voter. We have to focus on the real dangers - the ones we can fix which are political and are affected by how we vote. Although I wrote it before last weekend, I still stick by it.
Rule of law matters. Awareness matters. Substance matters.
By the way, thank you for highlighting Stephanie Jones' Substack. She is so insightful and knowledgeable.
I am always afraid to recommend people, but I've known Stephanie for a while and rarely have even a quibble.
She doesn't brag about herself, but her resume is incredibly impressive. She was a legal advisor to the Congressional committee investigating the J6 attack, she has done major civil rights work, she has taught law.
She was tapped for the J6 committee because of her impressive credentials.
She does speak her mind.
The only thing to be frightened of is Trump winning the election. The thing to be terrified of is Trump winning the election with both Houses of Congress.
Biden in the White House with majorities in both houses willing to reform the Court will roll back these problems.
When the Supreme Court in the past handed down horrible rulings, the doers and the heroes were not terrified. Thery were determined. There is too much terror and rage and not enough grit and courage.
