@pluralistic all of the code that runs the platform is here https://github.com/opensafely-core (including ehrQL) and fully open source
@pluralistic there's a great blog post on its design here https://www.bennett.ox.ac.uk/blog/2023/09/why-ehrql/ (there's another fantastic one on how we test it!). Publishing of results is not automatic, and certainly not after a set period. Researcher's analyses can only ever produce aggregate results and are subject to strict statistical disclosure controls. Two independent reviews of every single research output verify these before data are released! This rigour is a big part of our privacy stance.

Why did we create a new query language?

Love to see @pluralistic 's enthusiasm for OpenSAFELY! Few (friendly) corrections: We're the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science at the Nuffield Dept for Primary Health Care Sciences - Ben is affiliated with Jesus but the rest of us are not. The patient data aren't held by the NHS trusts, but by the two major GP software providers (who have an effective duopoly over the English market). "modified MySQL syntax" slightly hurts my soul - ehrQL is intentionally not SQL-like ...

We’re hiring software people and we’d love you to join us

@shanselman Hi Scott, I'm a developer/scientist at https://www.bennett.ox.ac.uk/ and we run https://www.opensafely.org/ - an open and transparent platform for privacy-preserving analysis of health records. We make extensive use of GitHub for SSO and loads of our infra relies on it (and generally we love it!). One of our researchers has had their acct suspended for a couple of weeks for and we've had no response from support messages. Do you have a recommendation for escalation? 🙏

Come for the sassy streaming service jabs, stay for my growing gender pay gap portal. The Irish government dropped the ball on a portal again, so I'm out here providing a government service like it's my job. There's even an option for you to submit data directly to be included in the database for either 2022 or 2023. If you want to help me build the data, its never been easier.

How we test ehrQL | Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science

How can you be confident that the queries you write will be correctly interpreted and return the expected results?

Sports Illustrated has been making up fake AI authors, claiming they are real, then deleting them when asked and offering no formal comment, editorial note, or other response.

They’ve also been publishing AI generated content by people who don’t exist with zero disclosure https://futurism.com/sports-illustrated-ai-generated-writers

Sports Illustrated was publishing articles under seemingly fake bylines. We asked their owner about it — and they deleted everything.
