Motor cars, bristling with guns swept through your city, their occupants firing at will." Some researchers estimate that as many as 300 Black people were killed in the violence.

Also keep this in mind.

Yes, the drug dealing Sackler Family are paying $6B for illegal Oxycontin distribution & killing ~546K Americans. But not only does no amount of money bring back the dead, the Sacklers are still worth $11B and 0 of them are going to prison for their crimes. $6B is just the Sacklers' cost of doing business.

Meanwhile ~40K disproportionately Black & brown people who killed no one—ARE in prison for cannabis.

The system ain't broken—it was built this way.

The billionaire Sackler Family and Purdue Pharma will pay $6B & serve 0 prison for knowingly selling horrendous amounts of OxyContin while claiming it was non-addictive—resulting in 564K+ American deaths by Opioid overdose.😓 And that doesn’t even begin to contemplate the global harm and deaths the Sackler family caused.

And for all that suffering and atrocity—not one person will go to prison. Not one.

“If the penalty for a crime is a fine, then that law only exists for the poor.”

@kakape And, our major news outlets are so deferential to the pharmaceutical industry, not one ran a piece even discussing the possibility
@kakape yeah, like we could have had full sharing of technology for tests, treatments, and vaccines, but the rich countries were so worried that some pharma company might lose out on some of its profits, they nixed the idea.

“One of the greatest tragedies of COVID-19 is that it didn’t have to be this way,” Tedros said. The tools to detect and respond to pandemics better are available. „But globally, a lack of coordination, a lack of equity and a lack of solidarity meant that those tools were not used as effectively as they could have been. Lives were lost that should not have been.”

‘It’s still killing and it’s still changing.’ Ending COVID-19 states of emergency sparks debate

Moves by WHO and U.S. usher pandemic into new phase of disease monitoring, even as coronavirus kills thousands weekly

USA the last 1 week:
•Black teen shot for ringing a doorbell
•Two teen girls shot for sitting in a car
•A 7 mo pregnant woman & her unborn child were shot at a Walgreens
•20-year-old woman shot dead for turning into a driveway
•Four young people shot dead at a birthday party

Imagine thinking the solution is even MORE guns.😐

As long as there’s money to be made by selling lies, weaponizing Trump's viciousness, and peddling conspiracies, Fox News will continue to do it.

Profiting off of dangerous lies has become a big business in America.

It’s one of the core challenges to the future of democracy.
