The trouble for Confederate apologists is that then they have to argue that those they wished to honor lied through their teeth with their repeated claims of dishonorable motives to cover up more reasonable ones.
All evidence points to the Confederates being honest until they lost.

Columbus doesn't deserve a day named after him. The mythos created around him to support the holiday ignores history.
