"The enemy doesn't arrive by boat, he arrives by limousine"

Some people believe there's no purpose to "liking" something on Mastodon since it doesn't affect any algorithm.

Not the case.

It does something incredibly valuable: it acknowledges people.

Which is incredibly powerful, and is all the more important *because* it's not connected to gaming any algorithm.

By liking something on Mastodon, you are doing it honestly -- without any agenda at play other than that you like it.

So go ahead. Click that like button for its own sake.

Someone replied to one of my Toots yesterday saying that they "didn't have a life worth Tooting about."

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Earlier I posted about having to do laundry and how I kept putting it off for 3 days. Only a few people responded, but we still made a brief but fun connection. Not because we were told to meet by some algorithm, but because of circumstance.

Kind of like if I had gone to a laundromat.

Connections, even brief ones, can be meaningful.

The fact that the twit has banned Mastadon isn’t shocking, sadly. Imagine having an ego that fragile.
Im having the most Monday Monday of all time.
Maybe Twitter's dead, maybe it's not. It doesn't really matter. We've learned that we don't need it to connect with our communities and so, much like the goblin king, it has no power over us.

#returntodarktower is just the best #boardgame. I can’t get enough of this thing. Each scenario plays so differently from the last. Simple to learn, hard to master.
