it was 50 years ago this week that humans were last on the moon, represented by apollo 17 astronauts gene cernan, ronald evans, and jack schmitt. the sequence of images above were taken on december 10, 1972, during the crew's second orbit around the moon. it was taken with a hasselblad 500 edl 70mm medium format camera through a 250 mm lens, using so-368 color ektachrome ms film.

i processed and composited film scans provided through the project apollo archive to create this image.
