If you think it’s trouble for Twitter to be hostage to the whims of Elon Musk, I encourage you to apply that thinking to Starlink.

Broadband, but rather than fiber in the ground that can be seized or resold or rerouted or regulated, instead thousands of satellites that are controlled only by Musk! To Musk this is a huge positive, but to the other 8 billion of us, it’s a huge negative.

We must not let broadband be Musked.

I would love to see #news instances run by #unions.

Once the recent wave begins to settle and #media, #journalist, & etc folks begin to better understand the less-obvious aspects of the #Fediverse, it strikes me that union-run / coop / guild / etc #instances might be a particularly pragmatic way to improve moderation policies, share moderation duties, and also push back against the clickbait-style distortion of media ideals I know many journalists despise, but have to work within.

Please ask yourself what bad moderation practices will you allow to perpetuate here—and how might you use Fedi to make a better world.
