I would love to see #news instances run by #unions.

Once the recent wave begins to settle and #media, #journalist, & etc folks begin to better understand the less-obvious aspects of the #Fediverse, it strikes me that union-run / coop / guild / etc #instances might be a particularly pragmatic way to improve moderation policies, share moderation duties, and also push back against the clickbait-style distortion of media ideals I know many journalists despise, but have to work within.

Please ask yourself what bad moderation practices will you allow to perpetuate here—and how might you use Fedi to make a better world.

@ryanrandall you should follow @jeffjarvis if you don't already.
@ryanrandall If they do, I'd like them to have a standard hashtag they use for all news posts, and a universal practice of putting all news stories in #ContentWrappers. This could potentially *increase* their audience, by allowing people to follow who want news but don't want it to dominate their feed. I'm seeing alarming numbers of news people flat-out refusing to use them. Really it's an #accessibility feature.
@ryanrandall I'm finding myself avoiding following news sources I actually want to because of this. Especially while I'm only following a few people. I don't want the news posts to dominate.
@ryanrandall interesting, I used to work in a Gov's press office and there are certain go to sites for me that are neutral and non-biased, I make use of a few bias checking sites as well
@ryanrandall myself with colleagues researched coops as social movements for around 15 years including a long period with Tower Colliery in South Wales, a totally worker owned and controlled cooperative. Search the web for myself and cooperatives and you will find us.
