Good morning to all those who understand that the struggle now is to refuse to let the world be defined for us by a gang of corrupt, brutal thugs. A better world exists - embrace it and fight for it.
For the last two weeks, I have been literally working like a dog - hanging out and playing games all day with family & friends, taking walks, and napping. Lots of nappping. Today I have to start working like a human again ☹️
The building where Emmett Till was tortured and murdered is located in Drew, Mississippi on a plantation that was once owned by Leslie Milam, the brother of one of the murderers, JW Milam and Roy Bryant. Although most people believe that Emmett Till was murdered in Money, Mississippi (LeFlore County), he was actually killed in this barn, some 30 miles away in Sunflower County. 1/15

Instant block for anyone using #dementia or #geriatric to describe and boost memes about Trump. To be clear, the problem is not saying something nasty about Trump. Think for a second please about why most people are using those hashtags on here.
I don't know who made this, but thank you!
"New York Times tech workers, who create and maintain the technology that powers the New York Times website and games, are on strike, the New York Times Tech Guild announced Monday. The strike comes one day before the United States election day; the Times is famous for its live election night needle, something that is, of course, powered by the publication’s tech workers. The Times Tech Guild covers 600 workers across the publication."

I say this as a straight white man whose right to equal participation has always been a given, whose fundamental liberties have never been in doubt: Don’t we dare forget the sacrifice and struggle of those who had to fight – and are still fighting! – for every inch of democracy. 15/

When you're an LGBTQ+ kid growing up in America, one book in which you see your life reflected can save you from self-harm. This mountain of books thrown in the trash by the GOP ideologues who have ruined New College of Florida is bone-chilling to see. https://www.heraldtribune.com/story/news/education/2024/08/15/new-college-of-florida-throws-away-hundreds-of-library-books-diversity-lgbtq/74814756007/
