The absolute funniest shit is the cybersecurity consultants who are trying to advertise they would have stopped a startup CEO from going to a sold out show with a side piece

My sibling in Cthulhu, you wouldn’t stop them hiring an escort on their work laptop with admin rights and AV removed

I was at this one startup once and the industrial network had a nice clean hole through all the firewalls just so the CEO could change the ac temp from her iPad.

How worried should I be that there's a 5¼" disk poking up through the ground at the local cemetery?

This is a proposal to expand the tried tl;dr standard for further usecases.

The authors propose

pw;dr - paywall; didn't read
ai;dr - ai, didn't read

This is a draft.

This is what I think of every time I see Microsoft Co-Pilot mentioned:

Good news. One invoice has already been reimbursed. For the other one I've registered a complain. Today I've been called by a very nice lady who has explained the reason of it being rejected, which is essentially their fault, and they have processed the claim manually.

Well, as a person working in software engineering for quite a few years, when I hear "our computer system does not allow it" my reaction is: "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!" 😅

Anyway, I should receive money in a few days.

One of the moments from this great conversation between @pluralistic and @mariafarrell, organised for @openrightsgroup ’s 20th birthday, that lit a bulb above my head:

The US Trade Representative’s perpetual threat of tariffs was what stopped countries from removing anti-circumvention measures from their copyright law.

But Trump has given us tariffs anyway. So why don't we take the opportunity to tear up some of the worst parts of copyright laws around the world

The best way to deal with someone farting in a polite company has always been and continues to be either to:

1. pretend it did not happen: we're all human, everybody passes gas, it's not something to necessarily be proud of, nor to give people a hard time about; or

2. if it's particularly bad or particularly obnoxious and inconsiderate (small space, etc) – have a private conversation about it with the person, if at all possible.

Incidentally, same goes for techbro billionaire projects.

Why is anyone still treating Jack "I-trust-Musk-to-extend-the-light-of-consciousness" Dorsey seriously is beyond me.

Save yourself the trouble, and save everyone else time, and just consider any "project" of his to be bullshit unless conclusively proven otherwise.

He is "vibe-coding" a "secure" messenger using an "AI" built by his cryptocurrency company.

This is bullshit wrapped in bullshit, sprinkled with some excrement of male cow.

I am not even going to use the name or link to anything.

@samwho The font used in descriptions has no distinction between 0 and o, which is probably not a good choice here.
