Why is anyone still treating Jack "I-trust-Musk-to-extend-the-light-of-consciousness" Dorsey seriously is beyond me.

Save yourself the trouble, and save everyone else time, and just consider any "project" of his to be bullshit unless conclusively proven otherwise.

He is "vibe-coding" a "secure" messenger using an "AI" built by his cryptocurrency company.

This is bullshit wrapped in bullshit, sprinkled with some excrement of male cow.

I am not even going to use the name or link to anything.

Way more interesting and actually technologically and cryptographically sound projects you should be considering instead:

@briar
https://briarproject.org/

A secure, privacy-preserving, decentralized IM that can work over Bluetooth.

@cwtch
https://docs.cwtch.im/

Another secure, privacy-preserving, decentralized IM project.

@VeilidNetwork
https://veilid.com/

A protocol for building privacy-preserving decentralized communication tools.

No AI, vibe-coding, cryptocurrencies, nor Dorsey.

Here's some additional context on Dorsey if you're still unconvinced:

Stop listening to these dweebs, stop paying attention to them. Their sole purpose in life is taking space from way more deserving projects done by way more serious people who happen not to be technofascist billionaires.

Support these more deserving projects and more serious people instead. With your attention – and your coin.

I think a list like this is a nice to have as a reference, ideally one that might still be reasonably up to date years from now. People used to have lists of various recommendations/interesting things by others on their websites. Perhaps it's something that would make sense for you to have?

@robryk perhaps. But I already have a bunch of things on my plate. It's a good idea and I encourage you to implement it.

@briar @cwtch @VeilidNetwork

@robryk Privacy Guides and Privacy Tools would be two projects to look at which provide reccs.

I know nothing about the people involved, or how good their recommendations are. I’m just aware of them.

VeilidChat beta hasn't become available to people not using play store, though...
😞
@Orca @VeilidNetwork that's because as far as I understand VeilidChat is just a proof-of-concept demonstrator for the protocol. It is not supposed to be a full-featured IM, at least not just yet. So making it available in Play Store could be… irresponsible.
@rysiek @VeilidNetwork
The problem is, I think, beta testing shouldn't gate anyone without a Google account outside. At least they can provide direct apk download for anyone accessing code repo, so at least casual users can't end up being harmed by potentially unstable software. If a "casual user" knows how to navigate to the code repo from searching, they probably knows enough to trust WIP software (or not).

@rysiek

This is what catapults are designed for. Yeet those fuckers into deep space.

@rysiek His solution is BS as you said. Briar is better choose Briar.

@rysiek Which will work best on phones that are 100% built in the USA.

@rysiek

How terribly sexist. Equal time for female bovine excrement!

@GhostOnTheHalfShell if I were doing this, rest assured I would make sure to balance it properly.

But this is Dorsey…

@rysiek I "professionally" grew up in the first two dot com/web booms, and I will say this: anyone whose reputation in based on their financial success in that era, but doesn't start every interview by saying "in hindsight, my success is largely due to the specifics of that moment in time" is highly suspect, in my view.

@rysiek This is why of everything that happened, Musk buying Twitter surprised me the least.

Twitter was already bad before Musk bought it because Dorsey was spineless. He responded to the US electing a Twitter troll as President by changing Twitter's terms of service to create a Trump carve-out.

@rysiek I warned people. They didn't listen.
Others warned people and the same.
It would be helpful if people stopped being staggeringly stupid.
