One thing that’s a bit of a hassle with Mastodon is that you can’t immediately follow people on other instances.

You have to copy the username and search for it on the server that has your account.

To make this easier, I’ve created a little bookmarklet. Press it, and you’ll be taken to the same account as viewed from the masto host you are on.

(Change the value of `MY_MASTO_HOST` in the code to your mastodon host –not URL– and you’re good to go)

Wrote a blog on why AWS never dove seriously into blockchain. Features groovy pix from a trip to New York, which is part of the story: https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/202x/2022/11/19/AWS-Blockchain

#1899 (https://g.co/kgs/qNYNPE) is a new series on Netflix from the folks who made #Dark.

If you’ve already seen Dark, that’s probably all you need to hear, and, like me, you’re going to start watching 1899 right away.

(The first episode was very good!)

So many new people are joining Mastodon, I recommend using Fedifinder every few days to find all your Twitter follows who just showed up. And put your Mastodon handle somewhere in your Twitter name/description/url so these tools can find you! https://fedifinder.glitch.me/

Curious about which Mastodon servers the accounts you follow are on?

Here's a quick tool I put together to give you a breakdown, sorted by server count:

thirty-four

And on the topic of #podcasts, it was a joy to see the new episode of Home Cooking (https://homecooking.show/) pop up in the feed.

Their initial batch of episodes were a small ray of sunshine at the start of the pandemic. While they're only doing one episode a year now, it's worth waiting for.

I live for podcasts featuring people who clearly love working with each other. (See also: the official #BreakingBad and #BetterCallSaul podcasts.)

On the #TV front, we're doing a family rewatch of #ReservationDogs (https://g.co/kgs/gWPMj8), which I can't say enough good things about.

If you like the show, check out the Fresh Air interview with the creator, Sterlin Harjo: https://www.npr.org/2022/09/19/1123873702/reservation-dogs-showrunner-sterlin-harjo

By way of #introduction:

I don't know if I'm going to get into too much #WebDev material here, but I have strong opinions about good #TV, #podcasts, and #books.

So stay tuned for some of those?

A good night to donate to your mastodon instance if you haven’t already— let’s keep these places running without billionaires and ads.
