#FIRE isn’t as great as it sounds – not everyone can pull it off 😐:

An ex-Googler retired at age 40 on a Friday. By Monday, she regretted it.

Nupur Dave joined the FIRE community at 40. But she quickly realized how socially isolating and unstructured retiring early could be.

A multi-part series of #LinkedIn posts (ugh!) by the creator of the #GoogleTest framework on the fall of #Google:

The Wasted Times of Google (part 1)

Fast forward a century. When people discuss the groundbreaking companies of the 21st century that profoundly altered the course of human civilization, I believe Google will be among them.

I love how my Sony TV still directs me to internal "go/" URLs, 3 years after leaving Google.

I've never logged into the TV with employee credentials, but my personal account is still intertwined with it anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #xoogler

I don't think I've ever used a buggier bit of gear than the #PixelWatch2. It makes me a little sad as a #Xoogler to see how rushed the software stack appears to be.

12 hours in, I'm on my 9th watch reinstall. Last time, I got as far as upgrading the firmware on the watch, and even then, only by reverting many of my phone settings and skipping most of the optional install prompts. Wish me luck.

As a 4-year inmate of the "real world" asylum outside the chocolate factory, I agree with vast swathes of that doc.

Many things are weirdly and inexplicably different. Reliance on logging. Haphazard authentication, authorization, and delegation. Multi repos.

But the teams I've worked with have all been grateful for better dashboards, easier tooling, post-incident reviews, SLOs, rate limits, build-at-head, etc.

Quite amazed by the #Xoogler community. While horrible what happened, I'm taken advantage of all the activities/events going on in #Singapore and tag along/learn from others

This makes me proud of being a Googler -- it shows people care for one another and most really are googley and not assholes.

Can't say the same of some other firms.

With the #TechLayoffs #GoogleLayoffs, there are lots of healthtech employees who are now #opentowork.

I talked to several #Xoogler(s) about where they see the future of #healthcare and how #bigtech ex-employees can benefit healthcare and #healthtech companies:

Alphabet's laid-off health tech employees on where their work heads next

In interviews with STAT, former Alphabet employees said tech expertise could come in handy for health systems trying to get up to speed on data.

I am starting week 2 as a #Xoogler. I'm a prolific #BugFiler even for companies I don't work for, so after I file an alphabet app bug via #InApp #SendFeedback I plan to post some here.

Last month I would've posted this bug to my currents page:

Google Currents - Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Currents

or a #chats space visible to all alphabet.

Anyway, on #YouTube I filed via
