@gruber How likely do you think that Apple would expand iPhone mirroring on Mac to allow iPhone apps to run in self-contained free-moving windows (but each window is still a mirror with the app still actually running on iPhone)? As a workaround to most iPhone apps opting out of macOS compatibility, and harnessing the iOS multitasking and multi-windowing work already done.

@Starfia @gwcoffey Reminds me of the ambiguity about whether an adjective in a menu item is because they offer it a different way (so you have to specify), or it's a "drama" adjective that you don't need to actually say when ordering and is just for marketing.
@tewha @arroz @paul I also remember After Dark starting would mess up printing. (Under System 6 anyway) I learned to move the mouse to the never-start corner whenever I printed.
@iKyle My joke during the GPT-5 keynote was that modern web front ends are so bonkers complex that nobody knows how to set them up without AI.
@bigzaphod Fellow listmaker! I started a list of *every movie I had seen* when I was 18. I was still young enough I could reach back into childhood and remember most of it. Several movies on the list exist as descriptions of scenes rather than title, still need to chase some of them down.

@bigzaphod I read Mastodon via RSS and my RSS reader keeps posts forever, so I found it:

2/2

1. Allow sideloading and alternate stores. No fees, no buts. Worldwide.

2. Keep their cut at 15%/30%. Make it the best store possible. Courage.

3. Offer a discount not for a crippled store but for apps that pass a high bar of user experience: State saving, proper notification management, full use of platform features (windowing, focus APIs, etc), perfect adherence to the HIG, and no dark patterns. Make being in Apple's store mean something. "The power to be your best" as Apple once said.
