Whomever runs the version of Mastodon I'm on is apparently shutting it down, and is asking us to migrate.

Can anyone point me to a quick explainer on how to do that in the simplest way possible?

Many thanks!

Roberts: “There is much in the legal world that [Judge Friendly] would find abhorrent. Judges heckled and shouted down at law schools. Protesters outside the homes of justices, with marshal protection needed 24/7.”

Roberts neglects to note that Friendly would be appalled by Thomas's accepting $500K+ in "gifts" from a man funding organizations with cases pending before him.

And also by the overt politicization of the Court (Exhibits: Dobbs, Bruen, W.Va. v EPA).

Harlan Crow's argument that Congress can't regulate the Supreme Court and so has no good reason for information about bribes and ethics is nonsense.

Even if Congress can't regulate the Court in normal legislation, Congress has a role in proposing Constitutional amendments, and every law Congress passes is interpreted by the Court.

Part of "checks and balances" is transparency by each branch to the other and through to the People.

In contrast to what is going in Texas, see #Arizona, where we worked hard to elect a Democratic governor in 2022. Now #KatieHobbs has vetoed anti-democracy bills and Republicans don't have enough votes to override. https://www.commoncause.org/press-release/common-cause-arizona-dangerous-anti-democracy-bill-vetoed-by-governor-hobbs/ #USpolitics

I know it’s a flaw in my character, but I still can’t see Ultimate as a real sport.
We can expect to see a lot of this. Prof turns down a tenured job at University of Texas - to join their conservative institute no less - because of the legislature politicizing higher ed and uncertainty about tenure. Regardless of outcome, the government’s hostility to its state universities will leave a mark. https://www.texastribune.org/2023/05/23/civitas-institute-professor-tenure/?utm_source=articleshare&utm_medium=social

Who says crime doesn’t pay?

“Many FTX corporate records were held by the law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell, which took control of the company after it filed for bankruptcy — and which so far has billed $55 million, including for the document detective work, according to The Times.”

Also, and not necessarily the same, what will financial analysts, companies and investors use as the risk-free rate in valuation?
If the US defaults, what should one use as a proxy for the risk-free rate?
