I've been in and out of information security professionally, but somehow always have related projects. Mainly working with zeek and network level detection at the moment. SDR, cycling, and climbing enthusiast.

I boost a lot. Topics range far and wide from security and "the cybers" and may include politics, food, humor, science, law, nature, art, and other sundry unsavories. I occasionally post my own projects and thoughts.

I've seen this interview making the rounds lately, and I think it's a spot-on take on the kinds of "agentic AI" being pitched today.

"There's a profound issue with security and privacy that is haunting this hype around agents and that is ultimately threatening to break the blood-brain barrier between the application layer and the OS layer" 💯

@aj We think we're so clever outsmarting the bots and scrapers, but the joke's on us if we all get trained to walk around prefacing everything we say online with a string of inane and unlikely word combos -- basically bullshit -- to keep the machines from spewing it.

Anyone else super annoyed trying to reorganize firefox tabs and having them "grouped" together, or just me?

Pentagon may put SpaceX at the center of a sensor-to-shooter targeting network
Under this plan, SpaceX's satellites would play a big role in the Space Force's kill chain.

Welp, time to start looking at that lightning strike map...
Uh ... should I ask what triggered all the gravy-related stuff?
Despite the Kremlin’s anti-LGBTQ+ crackdown, queer people in Russia are still finding ways to build relationships. Meduza spoke with three LGBTQ+ Russians who have carved out space for love in a country that denies their right to exist.

Hey, so this is a strange question. I have been able to do genealogy on the patriarchal side of my family who were Dutch and European back to about 1100, where the records are hard to find and have delved into ancient forms of language I can’t read. (May I say here that amongst my regrets is that I am not the Duchess de Bitche, but gods I want that title. I promise to wear flowy black robes that swirl when I turn and everything!.)

But, do I know anyone, or anyone who knows someone that does genealogy in Eastern Europe and / or the Arabic speaking world? Not asking for free help, genealogy is not a hobby at this level, it’s a profession for which I am prepared to pay for knowledge workers.

DMs are open, so you’re not putting anyone’s name out in public if they prefer not. Thanks gang!

Yeah baybee. This is gonna look good
I'm putting it back together, slowly and carefully so i don't mess up the finish. This is as far as i think i can go right now until it cures more
I lied. I assembled more of it
@MLE_online its a wheelie poppin machine ❤️
@h2onolan it kind of needs a wheelie bar. It's pretty easy to make it do wheelies
@MLE_online that looks sweet. Is there a freewheel on the rear wheel?
@dr_a no but there is a freewheel on the hub mounted to the frame on the underside of the rack
@MLE_online nice. I love the look of the chain switching sides.

@MLE_online when you said bed liner I worried that it was going to be boring black texture.

I am happy to be so wrong, that green looks great.

@amd oh yeah, the only reason i did this is because it comes in colors
@MLE_online @amd where do you get this festively colorful bed liner? I don't have a project to use it on at the moment but--- i want one now. That's HOT. :D
@vxo @amd Monstaliner!

@MLE_online @amd Thanks!

Hmm. I wonder if it'd work on ABS plastic like what a Pelican case is made of. I have a big rolly suitcase model that's just asking for a project, probably some kinda big power bank + PV charge controller and maybe dockable solar panels to match + mobile radio kit thing, for when I want to be accompanied by nothing but the airwaves up a mountain somewhere :D

@MLE_online @amd fancy SOTA and camp power kit. I mean even fancier if I mixed glitter into the Monstaliner. Believe me I would.
@vxo @amd what is SOTA?
@MLE_online @amd Summits on the Air, it's a special class of amateur radio event where you go up to a mountaintop to "activate" it and log contacts with stations elsewhere. It's kinda the most fun sort of contesting I can imagine wanting to play with due to the cool scenery

@MLE_online

It is looking so good!

@MLE_online FRAN-KEN-BIKE! FRAN-KEN-BIKE!!
@MLE_online It looks soooooo good
@MLE_online Is that just using a brush? Looks great!
@jrward I used sponge rollers and sponges that I got with the liner. They have a coarse texture that helps create the bumpiness

@MLE_online is it a long tail folding bike? Looks awesome! Nice work :-)

What is the bracket just behind the seat post?

@wall0159 I think it's a normal tail folding bike. It's not really very long.

The bracket is part of my convoluted solution to using a FWD ebike motor on the back wheel while still letting me pedal the bike. The bike has two chains, and a bicycle hub gets mounted to that bracket for transferring power between the chains

@MLE_online ahh nice :-) I look forward to seeing how it pans out!
