@elysegrasso Hey Broken Oaths and Boundaries (vol 2 of Elderkin Chronicles) just showed up on my reader app! Possibly you do less marketing type posts than typical authors. I at least wouldn't mind a bit more :) anyways looking forward to the feast. #bookstodon
Every little helps.
@generalx Confession time: I was annoyed that I took so long to realize mastodon was a ruby thing. Call me a parochial programmer but my first question about software is often what language is it.
@audubonballroon Sorry when I write that I didn't realize you are Black - I thought it was just some random white Zen stuff. I would delete it but you replied so I will let the record stand with my foolish words. I personally don't find as much value in Tolle as many others do, but that would be my limitation.
@audubonballroon Tolle in some sense is an extremely white guy. If this question applied to me I would seek out a teacher who has a similar situation to wrestle with. I don’t think white folks are likely to have skillful things to say about letting go of fixed identities for people on the persecuted side of a societal power imbalance as much as we are likely to say really dumb things that are harmful.
@mottg Not sure a deny list can keep up with the content spammers. I usually have certain sites for certain topics and check those as allow lists.
Israeli opposition MP forcefully removed from podium after condemning Gaza war – video

@jackwilliambell @carnage4life I read the wiki, I have never heard a bioethicist claim all decisions or advice or guidance is absolute, and my only quibble was with your word absolute. The greys in life are not ignorable but an essential feature of decision making, is what I am saying. Do no harm, but what is least harm, 10% chance of 10 year cure or most likely a year of pain but no surgery? And from time to time, life tweaks the numbers right onto ones assumed line.
@jackwilliambell @carnage4life my point, which is not that important, is the words used to construct the ethics are not absolute. Examples: alive, cause, intent, maximum good, etc. many systems of ethics seek maximums of things which are inherently multidimensional and incommensurable. Where does an ethics dedicated to not lying draw the line between omission and commission? Where ever it is there will be some infinitesimal cases where the words describing the line don’t match up to reality.
