Yesterday I used @FreeCAD for the first time to create a 3D printed holder for these 3" holographic sticker rolls. It was pretty painless, didn't even need to refer to docs or use a tutorial.
I sketched the base in @inkscape and used my laser cutter to cut it out of some 3mm acrylic scrap.
This is so long overdue. Over the past eight years I've watched the Fusion and Eagle commercial "legacy" yearly subscription price climb from ~$200 to $350, then $450, then $500. The non-legacy price is now $680(!?).
I should have switched to @FreeCAD and @kicad long ago.

Eye of Sauron spotted earlier today at #teardown2025 .

We miss you @jasoncoon !

@jasoncoon I'm finally getting into writing shaders for my PixelBlaze/Evil Genius Labs LED cube. I call this one Bubble Phi. It uses the R₂ low discrepancy sequence to pick the colors, thanks to @mbr for showing it to me. (I've used R₁ color sequences in other projects.)

I bought one of these #3DPrinting filament dry storage boxes, which are currently on sale for 9% ($3) off. It's working surprisingly well, keeping the air inside 30% lower humidity (30% vs the ambient 60%). I hadn't planned on it, but I've also just ordered another one with the active heated dryer dock to try out, I'll report back once I've tried it out: https://amzn.to/4nkGQUD
I'm also currently printing a dry box mod for the Prusa CORE One, will compare and contrast with the Polymaker one.
I joined the abolitionist John Brown and a few thousand other people at the Kansas capitol in Topeka today. #NoKings

I just got the keys to the ex-GAP for #Teardown2025. The dying mall/liminal space vibes are excellent.

We have a little over a week to fill it with cool projects, hacker art, machines, retro computers, a fully equipped make + hack space, and four tracks for talks, workshops and panels.

It's my second year running the show and I'm considerably less terrified than I was last year. I want to try and have fun!

I have a Prusa MK3/4 enclosure & a box of the parts leftover from upgrading a Prusa i3 MK3S+ to MK3.9 to MK4S to Core One. It may be enough to build a MK3, not sure.
Includes the light & removable power supply addons but not the filter.
Local (Kansas City) pickup only.
