@kenny113 why do you say that?
@stroughtonsmith still waiting for the “always show menu bar” setting

@juri @Cmarriotti I think we’ve seen is that the government is capable of squeezing any individual or corporate actor.

Would it be better if well resourced organizations pushed back on the Trump administration? Sure. But government pressuring companies isn’t new or unique to the current authoritarian goons. Corporate resistance isn’t a substitute for popular mobilization.

@Cmarriotti @marcoarment this point. The entire corporate class has decided that appeasement is the best strategy to protect their bottom line. I’m not sure why we think it’s the responsibility of corporations to be the bulwark against authoritarian overreach. There is very little public mobilization at this point, which is much more concerning.
@stroughtonsmith I’m really curious how sales will be, because the tech pundit discourse has been universal that this is phone for no one.
@viticci I knew you were a Notion user, I did not know you were drafting text in Notion. I guess I missed a behind the scenes podcast on last years review workflow.
@viticci that’s cool. Where’s our option for a persistent menu bar tho? 😩

@ppn @hwschuur @marcoarment @lexfri it’s fine to say that you might not make the choice Cook is making. But it’s not a “no brainer” given that a) Trump is mercurial b) can unilaterally hurt the business Cook is responsible for c) Trump is easily flattered and manipulated.

We might not make that choice, but it only reveals that Cook is pragmatic, and is prepared to deal noxious world leaders to protect his business. Seems rational, and unsurprising.

@stroughtonsmith real talk, I once purchased the bigger iPad Pro over the 11 just for this reason.
