@daringfireball I know you dislike the EU’s approach to regulation but I am pretty certain this would not have happened at all without that regulatory pressure. Lots of things are clearly possible without doomsday scenarios of rescued security or privacy.

Five years ago today, after listening to some negative discussion on @atpfm, someone on Twitter angrily predicted that “in 5 years, Tesla will have a marketcap at least 5 times larger than Apple.” I made a calendar event for this prediction, because I am petty. But now the account that posted it has deleted all its tweets, ruining the fun.

@atpfm I wish the new Studio Display would ship with a remote and could switch into Apple TV mode with a click, like Front Row back in the day. At least you then get a 5k TV on top.

@marcoarment could not agree more re “smart speakers”. My desktop speakers are bookshelf ones I bought off a friend used when I was a teenager. They must be 35y old. Work like a charm with a little Class D amp. I doubt any smart speaker bought today will live anywhere near that long.

@jsnell @gruber @daringfireball 🤣🤣🤣. I fully admit, me too! While it “got of easy”, it’s still bad and it is so sad how much they backslided on basics they wrote the book on. iOS will get fixed and iterated on quickly, but I fear that MacOS will stay in this half limbo for a long time.

@gruber @rbreich the NY Times reporting on this is abysmal: “Videos analyzed by The New York Times appear to contradict”… “The filings raise further questions about the federal government’s narrative of what happened”… why can’t these cowards call a spade a spade anymore?
