I read with alarm people talking about blocking mastodon.social. I am here because I joined when it first started and there was little choice. Should I move? I no longer run a server on which I can install my own instance, and with a range of interests including poetry, politics, economics, mathematics, science , photography, music etc I do not want to restrict myself to one "community." Is there a secure community for polymaths? What should I do? #confused #mastodon #fediverse

@jackLondon @[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] @Reddog Given that the main medium for propagating the smears was the BBC, closely followed by the rest of the MSM, of course the millions of people knew about them, they could not avoid them.
It is pointless trying to speculate about what might have happened, given such a massively destructive propaganda campaign. It warped the entire political process and its effects are still continuing.

@nwhyte That is only true while the overall vote remains high enough for them to claim that the system is working therefore they have a democratic mandate. Every vote cast will be taken as a vote of confidence in the system. If you do not have confidence in the system then do not use it! It will never change while people who want it changed nevertheless continue to support it.

@gdeihl It will be a very long time before AI actually brings anything, if ever. I am scared of what people may do with AI as it develops, principally because these are the same people in charge of the nukes and causing climate change. Get rid of them and restore public control and proper regulation then AI will be extremely beneficial.
