Late 20th century scifi has the trope where the hyper-rational AI reveals that there is a secret plan the humans don’t know about until it’s too late.

But late 21st century scifi won’t have that trope, because audiences who’ve been fed the idea that LLMs like ChatGPT are “AI” would assume the AI is just making up nonsense again.
