In defiance to proposed legislation that would make striking illegal, CUPE education workers in Ontario will walk out on Friday.

The union argues the legislation is unconstitutional. The government will invoke the 'notwithstanding clause', which allows them to pass legislation which violates certain portions of Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedom. This is an unprecedented action in a labour dispute.

I did some pretty cool research recently on online voting. We found that you can see who someone voted for just by analyzing the (encrypted!) data being sent between a voter and a voting service.

This type of attack works for at least one large online voting vendor that holds elections for Canadian municipalities, trade unions, and political parties.
