@garius If you are happy to self-host things on a VPS and set up the necessary mailgun account for the email setup, running https://cloudron.io and then using it to install Ghost was pretty simple. Takes care of package updates etc automatically. Cloudron is free if you only want to run up to 2 apps on it and it handles all the reverse proxy and dns updates for you. Fairly low maintenance. I have 3 ghost instances running on it and no issues so far.

@timbray The headaches of trying to get the browser to let my password manager be responsible for passkeys rather than Apple or Google in the browser was a terrible experience.

Not being able to easily see what sites had passkeys, or which passkey would be used if I had multiple accounts at a site also sucks.

Passwords with a password manager and TOTP for 2FA have at least had multiple years of user experience feedback, and it’s possible to avoid lock-in by choosing your own vendor.

ISO3103:2019 (latest version), doesn’t seem to resolve the milk before/after debate.

“Prepare the liquor as described in 7.2.1 but pour it into the bowl after the milk, in order to avoid scalding the milk, unless this procedure is contrary to the normal practice in the organization concerned.

If the milk is added afterwards, experience has shown that the best results are obtained when the temperature of the liquor is in the range 65 deg to 80 deg when the milk is added”

In the last 20 years, I’ve read only one mostly fair and balanced unpacking of the fundamentals behind the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. It was this one, by Max Fisher. It’s 8 years old, but still mostly current.

I urge everyone, especially you GenZs who are new to this ongoing tragedy to read it. It’s important to know what’s real, what’s myth, and what’s complete bullshit. Dare I say it? “On both sides.”
