My fellow Millennials and older will remember how the early Internet worked.

Since colour CRT monitors didn’t exist until 2003, the Internet was often in black and white. In addition, it was only on for about five hours per day. I personally would wear my best clothes when using the Internet because it was such a rare treat to do so.

The thing is that if someone else in your neighbourhood wanted to use some Internet, it was considered polite to let them use it after you had done.

Since there were only about ten or eleven websites online until 2006 you could get most of your Web browsing done in about an hour anyway.
