At the risk of being brutally cancelled by the pet lovers of Mastodon, I really, really wish people would add generic hashtags like 'cat' or 'dog' to their photos of cats or dogs.
My vast 'Don't Show Cats & Dogs' filter now includes specific crossbreeds, for goodness' sake.

I'm not providing any support or planning any serious development or maintenance of this, it's just a fun little hack project. Please fork and extend :)
Some Gotchas:
- You need MacPython 1.5.2 installed to run it, because my Mac crashes when I try to compile it into a standalone app.
- You need some kind of SSL stripping proxy running on another machine, I recommend WebOne: https://github.com/atauenis/webone
- It only posts plain text toots and doesn't have any other features
- There's no error handling. Expect crashes!

I helped my Mom upgrade her phone today. She's switching from a 22-year-old Nokia 3310e to a 2-year-old iPhone SE. Tomorrow I'm going to show her how to use the new one, which should be... interesting.
Toot is a Mastodon client with a pretty TUI, and a CLI with lots of fancy features - e.g. you can post multiple images, with descriptions & sensitivity flags. Handy for scheduled/automated posts, crossposting.
Handy: you can filter emoji on Mastodon.
E.g., you can get rid of those annoying tweet-toots from folk using Mastodon Twitter Crossposter by filtering the 'link' and 'bird' emoji.
If you're after a Mastodon client, Pinafore is well worth a look.
