nuintari's rules of networking 0x05:

A proper recursive name server is local to your network. Never use any of the commercial providers that really want your DNS traffic. They really want your DNS traffic for a reason. That reason does not have your best interests at heart.

DNS is not hard.

@krypt3ia Bye bye Reddit.

Do you enjoy guzzling real-time TLS certificate allocations, but don't want to use a third-party service (crt.sh, CertStream, etc.)? Drink straight from the Certificate Transparency log firehose using ctail:

$ go run github.com/hdm/ctail@latest -f -m '^autodiscover\.'

@krypt3ia I hate this simulation

Jesus on a cracker, this report is flabbergasting.

"As an Australian who wrote about the demonstrations while on campus, I gave my phone a superficial clean before flying to the U.S. I underestimated what I was up against."

There's some cool sounding training on its way from @circl

Some further thoughts on "the business idiot" theory. I was once told that the main weakness of engineers/technical people is that they want their work to be used (!!). Yes. But imagine how much time you'd have for politicking and positioning for power if you weren't "distracted" by doing actual useful stuff. I often wonder if this is behind technical people always losing out. Earlier relevant post: https://berthub.eu/articles/posts/how-tech-loses-out/
How Tech Loses Out over at Companies, Countries and Continents - Bert Hubert's writings

This article is part of a series on (European) innovation and capabilities. Hi everyone, This is a transcript of my presentation over at the European Microwave Week 2020, actually held in 2021. You can find the video here and the slides here. I’d like to thank Frank van Vliet, general chair of the EMW, for inviting me to do this talk. The words have only been edited lightly - it is still presentation style, so here and there the sentences are not written like how they’d be in a more formal piece of work.

I sell Libreboot, and Libreboot accessories. https://minifree.org/

I'm also installing my favourite operating system (FreeBSD), on *two* separate machines for different customers.

Then after that, I've got a Qubes install,

One of the FreeBSD installs is getting boring Xfce and Xorg. Nice, conservative choice.

The other FreeBSD install is getting something quite saucy: KDE Plasma with Wayland.

FreeBSD is pretty much a roll-your-own-system affair. It has both a source- and binary-based package manager, so it's like Arch or Gentoo, depending on how you use it.

@libreleah I hope you don’t encounter the same issue myself and others have discovered with KDE Plasma on Wayland. Crtl-c anywhere in the session instantly logs you out! #KDE #FreeBSD #plasma #Wayland
@libreleah Nice King of the Hill reference, I think.
@libreleah i am showing my ignorance by saying i have no idea what the other reference in that is lol ...
@libreleah @bloor How do I both like and hate something on this platform?
