#Grüne appreciation post.

Regardless of the outcome today, I'm still incredibly jealous of Germany having a proper green party that is reasonably center-left, can mix idealism with enough pragmatism to govern, and for whom polling at 12% is considered a poor result.

US politics isn't really my field but from a political strategy perspective it has to be said:

The whole "Gulf of America" thing was such a silly and obvious red herring that I figured there's no way professional news and the social media bubble would fall for it... And then of course they absolutely still fell for it.

It's been a decade and we have not learned anything about properly addressing post-truth populism. The next few years are looking increasingly bleak.

Holiday tip: instead of getting into political arguments with your opinionated family members, pull up some thought experiments and surprise them with obscure and confusing philosophical debates instead!

This definitely varies by ability and available infrastructure but winter cycling isn't as scary as it seems.

Just learn from my mistakes and make sure you have warm gloves with decent grip and well-inflated tires to balance the cold air contraction.
