@jeffjarvis NYT is not making an effort to be unbiased, or honest.

Today on the first day of Women’s History Month I learned that after no fault divorce was finally legalized in 1970, female suicide rates dropped 20%🤯

The "strong 1950s family unit" that the GOP is nostalgic about ignores record high female suicide, suffocating domestic violence, & zero female financial autonomy.

But maybe that's GOP's goal all along?🤔

The Washington Post

This is brilliant data-infused journalism:

Washington Post correlates terrible credit scores in the U.S. South with the refusal of state governments to expand federally funded Medicaid, creating vast amounts of medical debt and bankruptcies.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2023/02/17/bad-southern-credit-scores/

Republican ideologues have made their states even poorer, and their citizens far worse off in all kinds of ways. This is one of them.

Of course, they're proud of it.

Why the South has such low credit scores

Why does the American South have worse credit scores than the rest of the country? Hint: It's not just race or income.

Here's a first... I just got an email because ChatGPT suggested an article I wrote to somebody. Could I send them a copy? Except, I never wrote the article, it doesn't exist. PLEASE realize right now that this tool isn't pulling out cool references for you. It's making plausible titles and matching them to authors names.

I prefer this narrative:

Much like AOL and Compuserve, Big Social belongs on the dustbin of history.

The whole notion of a walled garden social network where one company controls both APIs and social graph -- that's obsolete.

Asking me to join your Big Social app is like trying to sell me dial-up AOL service.

Louis CK is playing sold-out shows, Donald Trump is running for president again, and Brett Kavanaugh is on the Supreme Court. So sad how these allegations ruin men’s lives.
My mission shouldn't be parsing the increasingly muddied report of violence, to assign blame to fellow citizens rising up against systemic generational oppression. It should be recognizing that ALL violence belongs to this ostensible peacekeeping institution, that insists on war.

We don't need—shouldn't want—an army to wage war on our fellow citizens. We need peace. We don't have it. So, our keepers of the peace have failed.

So they are a failed institution.

So we should end it. and re-imagine.

If we don't want that, we can't be thought to want peace.

Musk and his minions have reinstated the account of one of the nation's most prominent bigots. This is not remotely surprising to anyone who's paying the slightest attention.

I remain surprised, and disappointed, that so many people in the journalism world still choose to use that platform -- knowing that they are supporting people who want to see the U.S. become a right-wing dictatorship.

Journalism has options, but most journalists ignore them.
