BGH obstetrics closure is heartbreaking to see

Like most breaking news in Bonner County, I first heard about the closure of the obstetrics service at Bonner General Health through the “Sandpoint grapevine." News spreads fast in a small town. Especially when you are an obstetrician who lives in that small town.

@moviemorgz I’m thinking of the Wizard of Oz. If one fell on my sister I might become scared of houses. Or avoid tornadoes. Or stop wearing my ruby slippers.
@ianbicking @conradhackett @histodons My first guess at the country with the most US expats was Mexico. It heads this 2020 list, followed by Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia, Israel, and 24 others. https://www.thestreet.com/personal-finance/countries-with-most-american-expats-2020
The Countries With the Most American Expats

Whether for love or money, work or politics, these are the countries where Americans head when leaving the U.S.

@CindySue @politicalscience I did not read @sjlarin ‘s toot to ask that only academics be included, but rather that #news of political events be separated from discussion of #scholarship on #politics & #PoliticalTheory. Is that right? I’m curious how that sort of distinction can emerge in the #fediverse. How are #norms established in an open network? My guess is, the more specific members want a group to be, the longer, more obscure its tag should be.

@Bronwen @mindstalk @ellesaurus I love Robin McKinley’s books, esp. Sunshine. Sharon Shinn is like McKinley in some ways. Shinn’s trilogy that starts with The Safe-Keeper’s Secret and the book Summers at Castle Auburn are most like. Shinn’s series that starts with Troubled Waters has the same feel but in a more complex society.
