@schwa "The movies are better anyway"

"But the movies suck"

"Exactly."

@schwa go for ishedeadyet, everyone will know who it is about anyway

The changes in this year's anyAppleOS are interesting. If you discount the AI features it almost sounds like they asked each team "what has been bothering you for years and you've never found the time to fix/improve?"

That's how you end up with things like Ethernet status in menu bar on macOS, DRM video playback in iPhone Mirroring, and Improved unread badge accuracy in Mail.

@leeloo By disregard you mean deciding not to release Siri AI in the EU? As in still compliant with the DMA, otherwise they would be getting fined again already, right?
@mattiem @nutsmuggler I believe that doing that would further alienate the EU and cause problems down the line. Even if it works (I doubt it would), it would only work until grifter in chief is gone for good.
@nutsmuggler @mattiem If I personally had zero faith in their stated values I would look for an alternative, because that's a pretty big incompatibility. It's actually one of the reasons why I avoid Google services.

@mattiem @nutsmuggler They publicly fought such laws in the US for more than a decade. Because it's possible. China is irrelevant because not a democracy.

I only take issue with saying "Apple had no issue complying with China therefore they should comply with EU demands as well" - The fact that there's a back-and-forth between Apple and EU that we can all witness is something that should be celebrated. Politicians aren't perfect (encryption laws as example) and neither are companies.

@nutsmuggler @mattiem Isn't that a feature of democratic countries? Apple can push back and negotiate instead of complying with everything without risking losing business? See UK encryption laws... we can agree that it wouldn't have benefitted users to add backdoors, right?
@schwa Nothing Electron can't solve!
@schwa What about the non-consensual clapping?
