Just posted on my blog (I know its been aaaaggggeeeessss) about my last couple of weeks with the #XteinkX4 #ereader with #opensource Crosspoint Reader firmware. I love it, awesome little device! #Eink https://concretedog.blogspot.com/2026/04/xteink-x4-with-open-source-firmware.html
Xteink X4 with Open Source Firmware

If you follow me over on Mastodon you'll no doubt have seen I have a new favourite device! The Xteink X4 is a tiny eink ereader which is pr...

Perhaps it is because I have used Linux for quite a long time now, and it did not always work so well, but I still smile when I plug my laptop (Debian, Gnome, Wayland) into a Thunderbolt dock via USB-C shaped connector, and its display appears on multiple 4K monitors within a couple of seconds.

I unplug it, and it comes back to the laptop screen.

Screen rotation on my laptop works flawlessly.

There is (or was) a rather long thread somewhere on the fedi explaining why LGBTQ+ folks - and especially trans women - are perceived by white Christian nationalists as such a threat to their desired social order. It had hundreds of boosts.

Does this ring any bells for anyone?

Just laid off along with whole team. I'm in the middle of moving. Movers coming on Saturday. I'm not done packing. Good: time to finish packing. Goodish: cheaper rent at new locale. Bad: older guy computer programmer, but not even in COBOL [C, Perl, Python, PL-SQL, RedHat and Debian Linux. Created a custom RPM just Friday.]

Looking. CT / NYC / remote.

Monday silliness 🐡🦈🐙

I'm in no way an AI hater. It has some very good use cases. But in the commercial world, if you are promoting a product or service, the phrase "AI-powered" translates to "didn't read the room". The majority probably don't see that as a plus? (I could be wrong!)

Boost if you will to get coverage. The results will be interesting if enough people vote.

EDIT: I should have said "hater or lover". But the question was strictly concerning the use of that language in promo and advertising.
