Klezmer trumpet & baritone horn player, studying Yiddish on Duolingo. My grad school roommate was a real Bible scholar and I learned something back then.
@FluentInFinance I’m with you — I took a 20% pay cut mostly because I hated the commute and the new job was within bicycling distance. BUT by that time the house was paid for, the kids were out of college, my IRA was pretty substantial, and I was close to retirement. So I’d say that Time not always > Money.
@tymwol one of the recommendations in _Elements of Programming Style_ is “Write clearly — don’t be too clever.” That was probably over 40 years ago; thanks for updating that advice with valuable specifics!
One of my coworkers said “Any bug you find is two bugs, the bug you found and a bug in the test suite or it would have been found sooner”
@molly0xfff I remember when I could just StumbleUpon something interesting
@gpshewan @molly0xfff If I could triple star this I would
@Gilou @molly0xfff There was a time before the technology got so easy to use that all the worst trolls could handle it

@Rihilism Besides robins, cedar and Bohemian waxwings like crabapples. My wife & I have also had a ruffed grouse that regularly ate from our crabapple one winter (this was in Maine). That tree is really laden with fruit!
@hauntedhideaway Can’t help with nails, but I would recommend _The Tassajara Bread Book_. It has lots of recipes, but more importantly, extensive discussion of what you can vary and what you have to be careful about with a recipe, what you can do by feel, and what can go wrong and how to do better next time.
