@joshbuddy @pluralistic
Here is Switzerland we use Digitec and Galaxus for only shopping which have quite a nice user experience. And after shopping with them for years it's hard to describe the whiplash of enshittification and horrible user experience I get if I have to use Amazon. What a horrible website. It's impossible to find what I want and everything is dropshipped by weird and shady sellers...
@anneroth also tatsächlich die schlechteste aller möglichen Lösungen.

@domi wanna bet that this is only to prevent the competitors ai scrapers from accessing this info?
@nixCraft If I was a rivaling AI company I would absolutely pay 200 bucks a month to burn through my competitors VC funding, especially since I already have a chatbot that can come up with an endless stream of high compute, nonsense tasks

The biggest drawback is that by embracing LLMs it means you are now in a race to the bottom that you can not win. Since the output is incredibly generic, it takes low skill to generate and everyone uses the same tools means you can not get a competitive edge over anyone else. This means that your biggest competitor will be content farms in developing countries and you can not beat them in price and since they produce the same quality your customers will just pick them

@zipkid @emilymbender @alex

The current LLM tools are great for things that don't really matter, eg generated images for your cocktailparty for friends or writing an email to your insurance company. The generated media output is basically impossible to edit (mono layer images, single audio track etc.) you will lose a lot of time trying to modify the output to what you want/need. Also the LLM content has a certain "cheapness" to it, it looks flat and tacky.
