This is a warning about Meta and Threads.

Please boost this here and outside of Mastodon so that pregnant people in the United States are informed that using Meta/Threads is dangerous.

I'm unlikely to get pregnant but I have ZERO presence on Meta/Facebook/Instagram/Threads as a matter of principle.

Georgia O'Keeffe is NOT masked by Bluesky. O'Keeffe would be so pleased, she maintained throughout her life that she was simply painting flowers.

my only complaint is that this bug affects mastodon, and so it's highly unlikely there are people in corporate settings being forced to gravely discuss mitigating "tootroot"

Mastodon, the free and open-source decentralized social networking platform, has patched four vulnerabilities, including a critical one that allows hackers to create arbitrary files on instance-hosting servers using specially crafted media files.

Nobody should be using GPT detectors for anything important.

From a recent study that found that GPT detectors were misclassifying writing by non-native English speakers as AI-generated 48-76% of the time (!!!), compared to 0%-12% for native speakers.

Don't use AI detectors for anything important

I've noted before that because AI detectors produce false positives, it's unethical to use them to detect cheating. Now there's a new study that shows it's even worse. Not only do AI detectors falsely flag human-written text as AI-written, the way in which they do it is biased. This is

Decided to stop for a moment and take a picture of White Park Bay this afternoon.

Just pictured in the distance: the rainstorm that I had to ride through to get home.

I asked ChatGPT about primes ending in 2 to make it prove a point and it proved the point far better than I could have hoped for.

Please do not be a fool who trusts ChatGPT with anything outside your field of expertise, and even then double or triple check what it tells you if you must use it.

One of the great things about drivers is, if a pedestrian or cyclist offends them in any way, they’ll drive more dangerously & threaten other pedestrians and cyclists. But if a _car_ impedes them in any way, they’ll drive more dangerously & threaten pedestrians and cyclists.
