Late-stage capitalism? That was last week. Welcome to extinction-stage capitalism.

There are valid reasons to have QTs and to not have them. Safety is a valid concern. But this prioritization of fake civility, is not good at all. This ignoring the Black perspective, is also no good.

There are folks more upset at @QasimRashid for sharing how migrants were harmed and put in real danger on Christmas Eve, than they are upset at Abbott for doing the harming. In some folks' eyes, the bigger misstep is Qasim harshing the Christmas vibes. I don't know how to explain that this is bad.

Gary Numan is 13 days older than Gary Oldman. I don't even know what to believe any more
Hi there, not sure how often I’ll be here but a short #introduction
I’m a lecturer in American #litstudies currently on leave. I write on early US lit and race, and had a book out last year: “Liminal Whiteness in Early US Fiction”. I’m now working on a comparative project on early US and early Australian speculative and utopian lit (1770s-1900) and settler colonialism. #histodons #academic
I know some people find acknowledgements in books silly, clichéd and boring. But I always read them first. They are one of the rare moments in academic works where you don't just hear the academic voice, but something personal comes out. Moreover, some of the relationships become visible that make such an achievement possible in the first place. Books are social things.

since more and more people are joining just wanted to re-announce that tricia matthew and i are editing a book series on race in nineteenth-century literature and culture -- details in the flyer below and more info at https://www.bigger6.com/oup. send us proposals and/or share with others!
