Ontological terror. Critical nostalgia.

Hey folks. I have two accounts and that's dumb. I'm trying to migrate everything to one. Which means this one (though technically my first) is going away.

@highway62 is the one working from here on out. Trying to nuke this one

Oh no. There's a comicspace on this thing. How do I follow all those posts?
@mikester I suspect .social is their "big twitter" substitute. But they don't make it intuitive to find interest groups (whereas Twitter self-sorts via the user.)
@slipstream Hashtags aren't a substitute for structure. #hashtag #structure #topography
@slipstream I didn't build the system. I have no input over it. I got that.
@slipstream But I have to find and follow them individually instead of just finding a room about a topic.
And while I enjoy freedom, even a great deal of freedom, a ruleset makes a helpful starting point in this sort of thing. I hope Mastodon will put something together along those line.
USEnet seemed utterly anarchic on the surface, but there were a bunch of pretty set in stone rules about how and why newsgroups got set up and staying on topic, etc.
It's like USEnet, but anyone can spin up their own node at any time and you need a separate login for it. That's just insane.
I honestly think the topography of Mastodon is going to kill it faster than anything else.
