Matt MaxwellI honestly think the topography of Mastodon is going to kill it faster than anything else.
It's like USEnet, but anyone can spin up their own node at any time and you need a separate login for it. That's just insane.

@slipstream But I have to find and follow them individually instead of just finding a room about a topic.
@highway62 searching hashtags helps as that shows results from everyone that your instance knows about
@highway62 Additionally, some apps let you view the local timeline of another instance without needing to register. (Tootdon can, and also the Kurotodon Chrome extension)
There's also a github issue open for adding this functionality into the WebUI.
