Bay Area chick. Racism really pisses me off. Wanna do my part in the battle against all the bullshit. Do they let people without Ph.D’s in here? #adhd duh #neurodivergent #sternshow #dubnation

A few accounts I follow who talk about sports. Please boost and reply to add your own. I am looking for more people to help make mastodon sports a friendly place for talk about all sports.

My column about apps on Mastodon appears in print today. I'm told it did very well on the web after publishing on Friday. It got MANY boosts and Favorites here on Mastodon (thank you!), so I assume that's where a lot of traffic came from. It'll be very interesting to see what kind of print-reader feedback I get via email.

This is a gift link to the story, so it should get at least some of you past the paywall if you don't have a subscription. If not, use archive.ph.

As Twitter kills third-party apps, new life blooms on Mastodon

Developers who crafted now-defunct apps for Twitter can devote their attention to the network that’s become the primary bird site refuge.

@Hey_Beth sounds like it's the perfect time for someone to make a sports instance

Okay, time to publish my every stupid thought online
Citizens! *Puts on steel toed boots* I urge you to remain calm at this moment! *loads rubber bullets into launcher* violence is not the answer! *Hangs night stick from belt* We grieve with your community! *Pulls reflective visor down on helmet* Peace is what this moment calls for *climbs into tank* The great MLK Jr said and I quote: I love police, and they are our friends! *diesel engine roars* So obey, comply, and remember we are in this together! *Tear gas launcher slowly points towards crowd*
Rishi Sunak needs to explain why, if breaking the ministerial code is now a sacking offence, that he chose to reinstate Suella Braverman just days after she was found to have broken it. https://adambienkov.substack.com/p/rishi-sunaks-delayed-sacking-of-nadhim
Rishi Sunak’s Delayed Sacking of Nadhim Zahawi Only Confirms his Weakness

The Prime Minister's sacking of Zahawi for breaking the ministerial code, while reinstating Suella Braverman just days after doing the same, shows exactly where his principles really lie.

“Consumer Reports (CR) has released a mobile app (iOS, Android on the way) that shows what data companies collect about you, then allows you to have CR get the data deleted.”

Seemingly US-only. 😢

“CR is a non-profit that accepts no advertising or corporate sponsorship, and they have a great reputation.”

Not among Mac users…😳

Huh. Consumer Reports (CR) has released a mobile app (iOS, Android on the way) that shows what data companies collect about you, then allows you to have CR get the data deleted: https://www.permissionslipcr.com Essentially, CR will act as the data ombudsman for anyone who asks them to. I love it. CR is a non-profit that accepts no advertising or corporate sponsorship, and they have a great reputation. It's a superb choice to take on the data capitalists. #privacy

The McDonald’s US regional president says a California proposal forcing businesses to pay a living wage is “job destroying”

He made $7.4 million last year.

McDonald’s has lucrative real estate holdings world wide and added to their assets with $15 BILLION in PPP funds distributed to the fast food giants

If you can’t pay a living wage and rely on the taxpayer to make you viable then you have a garbage business model

And I don’t want to pay for it.
