I had a Vespa.
@essaime @underware It is the same situation here in Spain. The objective is to discredit and destroy public services (health, transport, education, etc.) to say that they don’t work and to privatize them. Courage, mon vieux. ✊🏼
@davidsudweeks Thank David. This is a good one. I feel we are very close. 🙌
@6b6279 I know this essay of @typojournal , but the difference between 'long s' and 'lazy s' is a phonetic character vs. a graphic alternate. And I'm inquiring about the reason and origin of the last one. They may be linked, but I didn't find that link yet. 🤔
Thank you anyway.
Amazing references @fhardwig ! Thank you so much. 🙌
I’ve heard something similar to "lazy S”, but quite politically incorrect. I’m curious to know if there’s a @marksimonson denomination or from somewhere else.

So, pairing different fonts (e.g. one for headings and another for body text) is a complicated art. Generally, you want contrast in styles, but there is such a thing as too much contrast in styles—even though not enough is the more common problem.

I see MyFonts is now offering font pairings, but… the first one I saw seems just weird to me. Feels to me like Eurostile and Berkeley are having an argument rather than complementing each other: ultra-modern vs. 15th century.

Agree? Disagree?

@pascalduez Trop bien ! Merci. 🙌
@antoinechambertloir Je pense que j'ai ce bouquin quelque part. Je vais voir. Merci !
@tunera Bonjour. I'm living in Madrid, so I know quite well those street plaques. 😅
I suspect it is mere coincidence, because that 'S' appears long before the Art Decode era.
In addition, Silvia Ferpal and Juanjo López (MTM) are friends of mine. 😎
Thank you, anyway. 🙌
Thank you, @andrejkratky. In fact, typographic references like this specimen are easier to date and provide more data than a street lettering, for example. Unfortunately I don't get essays that talk about that damn character.

✒️ Type History Help Needed! ✒️

Hi #TypographyCommunity! I'm searching for any historical reference or example of a slanted capital 'S'—typefaces, lettering, or vintage signage that might show this unique angled 'S'. 📜 If you've come across anything like it or know where to look, I'd love your insights!

Any tips or resources would be amazing. Academic papers are specially welcome. Thank you! #Typeface #Lettering #typeResearch
