Creating a list of disabled/crip folks on the Mastodon fediverse for people who want to find disabled folks/disability researchers to follow. It includes people who are disabled and those who work on disability/crip theory/access, so the form includes an optional response for self-identification as disabled/crip.

Periodic reminder to write descriptive alt text. I occasionally see images that just have something along the lines of “chart” or “picture” as a text alternative.

Screen readers will only read out what you write there, so if your text only says “picture” blind people/screen reader users still will miss out on what’s pictured there.

The rush to Mastodon knowing how inaccessible it is feels *designed* to exclude certain disabled folks.

And yes, even among disability communities, where lateral ableism against cognitive and energy-limiting disabilities = rampant.
