Another ten groups added today.
We get so many requests with typos in the fediverse address for the person setting up the group. Please take care when typing it in.
If it's not valid, we will not create the group.
Mastodon.social has no advantages over any other Mastodon server. It has no special status or privileges, it uses exactly the same software as other Mastodon servers.

TL:DR - It's far far too big, it's putting the entire decentralised nature of the Fediverse in danger.

Someone asked how long FediGroups been running. So here's some fun stats:
We launched 647 days ago, on 31 January 2024.
That's 1 year, 9 months, 8 days ago.
In June 2024 we started keeping a count of messages processed.
Since then we've pushed out 24,348 messages, and currently have 193 groups.
phew!
Another twelve groups added today. We're creeping towards 200 now.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, it is 100% fine to ask about even the most basic thing that you're unsure about.
You can ask by mentioning me, replying or messaging. (And yes I am a human being 😁 I don't use LLMs or AI. )
It's a shame some people don't take more care when completing the setup forms for a new #FediGroup
Today we've had two requests with invalid fediverse addresses, so we have no way to contact them to say the group account is (would be) live! 🙄
If you want to run your own boosting group on the fediverse, and you have some technical ability, there are alternatives.
We've just spotted 'tootgroup'.
You need a computer running Python that regularly connects to a fediverse account.
Note: We are not linked to the project and have not tested it.

We've had a very busy few days.
After the collapse of an alternative Group service, we have been inundated with requests. We've added over 100 new groups.
We're pausing the activation of new accounts for a few days. Just to ensure we're stable, and monitor our server capacity. Any new Group requests will be queued for activation next week.
I think we are up to date with the 'new accounts' queue.🎉
Hundreds of DMs dealt with too.
The Public Directory of Groups is also up to date, based on every Group that has asked to be listed.
We're just wading through the job queue to make sure we've not missed anyone.
