Brendan Eich stated his goal was to put Scheme into a browser. But some execs thought that syntax must resemble C, C++ and others. That's why JavaScript is like it is.

And think of #Lisp that looks like #C. That's JavaScript.
Or maybe #BSD or #Haiku or something else for an old machine, rather than Linux?
If I happened to have an old, 32-bit laptop laying around, what #Linux should I put there?

My opinion is that it's way better to start learning from sane defaults. Also, a wizard can easily show you what you can change and how.

I've used #Emacs for years through #Spacemacs framework and I still like it. Slowly I learn more and more about Elisp and other things when using it. I don't think it would be a bad thing if someone offered a wizard that creates a similar experience as one gets when following the guidance of #SystemCrafters

To be clear, I'm not a Xubuntu user and those computers weren't mine. It just was a right distro for those computers and those users.

I updated ancient Windows XP machines to #xubuntu a bit over a decade ago. It was good decision back then. I believe migration from Win 10 to Linux will be good solution.

I considered doing NixOS or Gnu Guix but my research gave an impression they're not as stable and carefree solution than running Ansible against localhost

This was an interesting read! I've recently started to wonder if smartphones have truly had a positive impact in life. I've had hard time trying to come up with any examples of such.

I also save my system configuration as Ansible setup into my dotfiles. Then I can install needed applications and tweak settings I want by running Ansible.
