I'm a Brooklyn born, blind, Jewish gal who ended up on the West Coast and never looked back. I'm an historian by training, but somehow made my way to the wonderful world of Wikipedia editing and do my very small part to make this world a better place through my work at Wiki Education! And about the blind part - think I might be a budding disability activist or at least real tired of a world that still regularly argues whether audiobooks constitutes real reading.

I don't know if I've explicitly said it (although I've got a fair amount of accessibility stuff on my timeline, so it's probably an easy guess), but just in case:

I will not boost an image that has no alt text. I'm part of the "no alt, no boost" movement. #NoAltNoBoost #accessibility

I am 100% not shitting you when I say scientists named mastodons after their teeth which they thought looked like nipples. “Mastos” as in breast. “odont” as in tooth.
We’re on a website that, in Greek, literally means “Booby Tooth.”

Wishing all the best on this shortest day of the year, the 27th of Kislev, to my friends and followers who are celebrating Winter Solstice, Shab-e Yalda, and Yule!

For all the talk of the U.S. becoming a much worse place for #Jews it's amazing and heartwarming to turn on NPR and hear a whole radio special on #Hannukah complete with #Yiddish and #Ladino songs.

Sometimes, out of fear, I think we forget how much opportunity and acceptance in broader culture we've gained in this country. It's not something to take for granted.

With apologies and due respect, I will from on here not boost toots with uncaptioned pictures. If I have the spoons, I'll ask someone to edit their toot to include a caption/alt text. #accessibility #caption #AltText
#Accessibility isn't just a desired feature you'll get around to implementing at an undetermined future date, #PostNews.

Before I go to sleep — a big welcome to the new folks!

Please remember to use #AltText for #Accessibility when posting images, including memes. Thank you! If you don’t know how, just ask or google. It’s easy and fun!

Just started watching the new season of His Dark Materials and already weeping inconsolably because I know how the story ends.
