Mozilla's Betrayal of Open Source: Google's Gemini AI is Overwriting Volunteer Work on Support Mozilla https://www.quippd.com/writing/2025/12/08/mozillas-betrayal-of-open-source-googles-gemini-ai-is-overwriting-volunteer-work-on-support-mozilla.html
Firefox and Mozilla are a lost cause because their management has gone full AI-crazy like Microsoft, believing this is the next big thing. It's sad that they are removing volunteer work and replacing it with AI, then adding LLMs to Firefox. They clearly don't understand why people go out of their way to install their browser

TL;DR: Mozilla’s translation bot on Support Mozilla (that is currently overwriting user contributions is based on the closed source, copyright infringing LLM, Google Gemini. This is in spite of Mozilla claiming that they are at the forefront of open source AI, and belies their exhortations to choose to build open source AI and data sets. Although Mozilla has experience in attracting open contributions for data sets in projects like Common Voice, Mozilla is using a closed data set to overwrite open contributions. Since (paid) Gemini queries do not train the model, Mozillians can expect to correct errors every time the bot automatically updates an article.
Most people want a usable OS - they don’t want any AI or copilot capabilities. But who will tell them? https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/windows-11/microsoft-ai-ceo-pushes-back-against-critics-after-recent-windows-ai-backlash-the-fact-that-people-are-unimpressed-is-mindblowing-to-me
How do you work as a CEO when you don't know what customers wants? They are totally out of touch and batshit crazy with AI.
FFmpeg to Google Fund Us or Stop Sending Bugs: https://thenewstack.io/ffmpeg-to-google-fund-us-or-stop-sending-bugs/ by @sjvn
The clash between small volunteer-driven, open-source projects, such as FFmpeg & the billion-dollar companies built on their work, which demand rapid security patches, is heating up.
Imagine if the package registries and #OpenSource components that you use were no longer available.
Would you still be able to deliver a single line of code? Would your software even start, or would your business come to a standstill within minutes?
