09/2013: NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft has gone interstellar. Launched in 1977, the probe is vintage space hardware. At more than 36 years old, or roughly a millennium in computer years, it's an impressive feat to have the spacecraft drifting through the material between stars.

On December 3rd, 1976, the 2nd of 3 days photography of Algie the pig took place at Battersea Power Station for the cover of the iconic Pink Floyd album Animals, largely concocted by Roger Waters, loosely inspired by George Orwell's Animal Farm. On this particular day, the marksman (ready to shoot the inflatable if it got away) WASN'T hired, and inevitably, Algie's ropes slipped & the pig flew away.
