here's a social skill that a lot of tech people struggle with, me included: try answering simple, direct questions with simple, direct answers; if you can't, shut up.
strong opinions about doing it "the right way" or "your way" when not explicitly asked for, isn't helping anyone, it's a crudgel to beat the curiousity out of whoever is asking. i lose all interest in solving the problem at hand. i don't have time nor the emotional energy for your reddit-ass yap session. i don't want to argue an answer out of you. i don't care. just answer the question, or just say you don't know.
adjusting the complexity of the answer to align with the scope of the question will make it easier to trust you in future inquiries, it will actually help the person who asks, it will save everyone a lot of time. swallow your infodumps. swallow your snark. just answer the question. just put the fries in the bag. keep👏 it👏 simple👏
